Dr. Steve Alfaiate OD
Dr. Steve Alfaiate OD is licensed with the Alberta College of Optometrists, Alberta Association of Optometrists, Canadian Association of Optometrists and the American National Board of Examiners of Optometry. Dr. Alfaiate completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Calgary and the University of Alberta and graduated from IAUPR Optometry School in 2011.
In 2011 Dr. Alfaiate also completed a three month externship in Daytona Beach Florida at Vision One. At this combined Ophthalmology/Optometry practice Dr. Steve Alfaiate provided routine eye care, contact lens fitting assessments, pre and post operative management care of cataract surgeries under the supervision of Dr. Haynes OD and Dr. Seith MD.
Dr. Alfaiate also completed another three month externship in pre and post operative cataract care, Glaucoma management and Ocular disease treatment in Ft. Lauderdale and North Miami Beach at the private offices of Dr. Hoffman and Dr. Dan both of whom were professors at the prestigious Bascom Palmer Institute in Miami.
At Crescent Heights Optometry Dr. Alfaiate practices full scope Optometry from complete vision and eye health exams to surgical referrals and Co-Management of ocular conditions. Dr. Alfaiate especially enjoys fitting contact lenses both hard, soft and the new hybrid contact lenses that use both soft and hard components for patients with high prescriptions, irregular astigmatism, or corneal conditions such as keratoconus.
Dr. Shaun Medway, HBSc, OD
Dr. Shaun Medway was born and raised in Brooks, Alberta. He graduated on the Dean’s Honour list from the University of Waterloo School of Optometry in 2018 and is the proud recipient of the Karen Tompa Nowy Memorial Award for showing exceptional care and concern for patients. He also attended both the University of Lethbridge and the University of Alberta, receiving his Bachelor of Science in Honours Biochemistry in 2012.
As part of his clinical training in Waterloo, Shaun obtained experience in multiple areas including contact lens, pediatrics, geriatrics, low vision, binocular vision, and ocular health. During his final year, Shaun completed an Ocular Disease and Therapeutics externship at the Veterans Affairs Hospital in Muskogee, Oklahoma. He also had the opportunity to participate in an optometric mission trip to Ecuador, providing vision care and glasses to those in need.
Dr. Medway has a keen interest in pediatric ocular exams, and he recognizes that the proper development of the visual system is extremely important from an early age onward. He is licensed with the Alberta College of Optometrists and is a member of both the Alberta Association of Optometrists and the Canadian Association of Optometrists. Dr. Medway is currently welcoming new patients and is excited to be providing exceptional eye care in the wonderful city of Calgary!
